As part of a school assignment to redesign book covers, I chose the first three books of the Dune series by Frank Herbert. The recent release of Dune: Part Two reignited my fascination with the epic sci-fi world, making it the perfect opportunity to craft covers that capture the depth and mystique of the series.

Challenge
The main challenge was finding a balance between honoring the iconic elements of Dune—its vast desert landscapes, philosophical themes, and complex political narratives—while giving the covers a fresh and modern design. Additionally, since it was a series, maintaining a cohesive visual language across all three covers posed a creative challenge.
Solution
I approached the redesign with a minimalist yet conceptual aesthetic, using bold typography and abstract illustrations to represent key elements of the Dune universe. I ensured continuity by developing a unified color palette and recurring design motifs, while distinct imagery on each cover hinted at the unique narrative arcs of the individual books. This approach allowed the series to feel cohesive but not repetitive, making each book visually compelling on its own.
